About our Scout Group
Lake Ginninderra Sea Scouts (LGSS) provide an opportunity for young people aged 5 to 25 years to participate in many different activities. However, we do a lot more than your normal Scout Group as over Terms 1 and 4 (the warmer months) our activities are usually based on, around, or in the water, as well as on land.

We do a lot more than your average Scout Group because LGSS does activities like sailing, canoeing, rafting, camping, hiking, rock climbing, abseiling, caving, bike riding, geocaching, skiing and snowboarding, social events, sleepovers, campcraft and generally just having fun with friends.

During your time as a Scout you may get the opportunity to attend a Cuboree, Jamboree, or Venture or one of the many other camps or activities for Scouts right across ACT, NSW, Australia, New Zealand, or even the world!

We are the biggest Scout Group in Canberra, and have the following Scout units that meet weekly. See our meeting times later on this page for when each Unit meets.

Age notes
1. Age ranges are set by Scouts Australia Policy & Rules: R5.3-Membership
2. Venturers can stay in Venturers to 31 December of school year 12 with the prior approval of the Venturer Unit Council
3. The age range numbers mean: you can join after the birthday of the first number, and must progress to the next Unit while you are the age of the second number.
E.g. Joeys can join after their 5th birthday, and must move up to Cubs while they are 8 years old (i.e. before their 9th birthday).
